Onna-Musha is a one-of-one hand-poured fine silver artwork, created as a gallery-style wall piece and presented framed for display.
This piece marks an important first for Silver Punk the first single silver panel to be mounted and framed as a finished wall artwork. Rather than being presented purely as a collectible silver panel, Onna-Musha has been elevated into a complete fine art object, designed to sit on a wall, in a cabinet, or as part of a serious contemporary collection.
The subject is inspired by the Onna-Musha, the female warriors of feudal Japan. Cast in high-relief, the figure carries a quiet intensity, armour, discipline, beauty, and threat all held in one expression. There is nothing soft or decorative about her presence. She is composed, watchful, and entirely still… but the piece feels alive with tension.
Hand-poured in 17.07 troy ounces of 999 fine silver, the panel has been created using the ancient process of sand casting by hand. Molten silver was poured into the mould, cooled, cleaned, toned, and finished to bring out the contrast, depth, and detail in the relief.
The artwork is mounted on antique 100-year-old watercolour paper, chosen deliberately to connect the finished presentation with the age and honesty of the process. The ancient technique of sand casting, the preciousness of fine silver, and the aged paper all work together to give the piece a sense of permanence and history.
